On Bertazzoni DW24PR and DW18PR legacy dishwashers, E3 means the water temperature could not reach its target within 90 minutes. The checks point at the heater, the thermistor and the control board. The code is described as one that appeared in factory mode, so most owners will rarely see it. If it does show, the wash may finish with water that never got hot enough.
1. Press Cancel and let the dishwasher drain. 2. Open the door and feel whether the dishes and the inside are warm after a cycle. 3. Run the hot tap at the sink until it is warm, then start one normal cycle. 4. If E3 shows again, stop using the dishwasher and call us.
This code is described as one that appeared in factory mode on the DW24PR and DW18PR. In normal home use it is unusual, so seeing it means the machine really did struggle to heat water.
Not by itself. It means the heat-up took 90 minutes without reaching the target. Still, because a heater is involved, we would rather you stop using the machine until it has been checked.
It can make a heating cycle easier, but it will not fix a failed element or sensor. If E3 returns after a cycle with warm incoming water, call us for a proper test.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
