What E9 means

On Bertazzoni legacy dishwashers in the DW24XV, DW24XT, DW24PR and DW18PR families, E9 means a control button has been held down for more than 30 seconds. On the DW24XV and DW24XT the cause is water or something else sitting on the button. On the DW24PR and DW18PR the button is sticking, and the warning clears once it is released. Nothing else on the dishwasher usually responds until the button is free.

Common causes of E9

  • Water or detergent film on the control button
  • Button pressed by an object or leaning item
  • A sticking button that does not spring back
  • Control panel membrane worn out
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and make sure nothing is leaning on the control panel. 2. Dry the panel and the area around the buttons with a soft cloth. 3. Wipe away any detergent or rinse aid residue. 4. Wait a minute and press the buttons one at a time to see whether each one springs back. 5. If E9 stays after the panel is clean and dry, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A button that stays down will block the whole dishwasher from starting.
  • A damaged panel can let water reach the board, so repeated pressing makes matters worse.
  • Taking the door apart to reach the panel exposes wiring that should stay untouched.
  • We confirm the button first and quote in writing before any work.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E9E9 questions
Is E9 a serious problem?

Usually not. It is a warning that a button has been pressed for more than 30 seconds. On the DW24PR and DW18PR it clears when the button is released, so a dry panel often cures it.

Why would water cause E9?

A film of water or detergent on the panel can conduct enough to look like a steady press. Drying the panel and wiping off residue normally returns the buttons to normal.

What if E9 returns after wiping the panel?

Then a button may be stuck or the panel may be worn. Stop using the dishwasher, and call us to check it. We quote the price in writing before we start.
