What E7 means

On Bertazzoni DW24PR and DW18PR legacy dishwashers, E7 means the thermal sensor is shorted. The dishwasher reads a temperature signal that cannot be right, so it stops the cycle. The checks listed are the inlet water temperature, the thermistor and the control board. You will see E7 on the display and the cycle will not continue. Dishes inside stay dirty and wet, and the dishwasher will not heat.

Common causes of E7

  • Thermistor shorted internally
  • Wiring to the sensor pinched or touching metal
  • Inlet water temperature outside the expected range
  • Control board misreading the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the dishwasher drain. 2. Open the door and check that the hot water to the sink is working normally. 3. Turn the dishwasher off at its breaker for a minute, then back on. 4. Run one short cycle. 5. If E7 shows again, stop and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • A shorted sensor gives a false temperature, so the heater could be switched wrongly.
  • The sensor wire runs beside the heater and tub, where an owner should not reach.
  • Testing resistance needs the right tools.
  • We give a written price before work and stand behind it for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E7E7 questions
What does a shorted thermal sensor mean?

The sensor is giving the control a reading that is out of range, like zero resistance. The dishwasher cannot trust it and stops with E7 instead of heating blindly.

Is E7 the same as E6?

They are close relatives. E6 is an open sensor and E7 is a short. Both belong to the DW24PR and DW18PR and both point to the thermistor and board.

Could cold water cause E7?

Very cold inlet water is on the checklist, but it would not by itself short the sensor. If E7 persists after a normal run, the sensor or board needs testing.
