On Bertazzoni built-in freezer columns with a TFT display, such as the REF24FCIPRR, REF30FCIPIXL and REF18FCIPRL, the message Door Unit OPEN appears a few minutes after the unit door is opened. It tells you the door is still open. Closing the door properly is the fix, and the message goes away once the door seals shut. Food inside is not affected if the door is closed quickly.
1. Close the freezer door firmly. 2. Look for packages or drawers sticking out that stop the door from shutting. 3. Rearrange them so the door closes flat. 4. Wipe the door seal clean with warm water. 5. If the message stays with the door fully closed, call us.
Only a few minutes after the door is opened. The wait is meant to avoid a message while you are loading groceries, and it clears once the door closes.
Something may hold the door off the seal, or the seal may be dirty or worn. Clean the seal and check the shelves. If it persists, the door sensor may need a test.
Not if the door is closed quickly. A freezer holds cold for a good while with a shut door, but a door left open for hours will thaw food.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
