On Bertazzoni DFS XT dual-fuel ranges, such as the MAS486GDFSXT and PRO366DFSXT, igniters that spark but produce no flame mean the gas supply valve is in the OFF position or the gas supply is interrupted. The spark works, so electrical power is present. The owner hears the clicking, turns the knob and sees no burner light, with no change after repeated tries.
1. Turn all burner knobs off and wait a few minutes. 2. Check that the gas shutoff valve behind or near the range is open, with the handle in line with the pipe. 3. Check whether neighbors have gas, or look at the gauge on a propane tank. 4. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
The spark is working, so the gas is not reaching the burner. On these ranges that means the gas valve is off or the supply has been interrupted.
It is usually on the pipe behind the range or in the cabinet next to it. Open means the handle runs in line with the pipe, closed means it sits across it.
Leave the house right away, do not use switches, and call the gas utility from outside. We can work on the range once it has been declared safe.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
