What PRE-HEATING Light Flashing With Alarm means

On Bertazzoni knob-controlled XV ovens such as the F30CONXV and FD30PROXV, and on the DFS XT dual-fuel ranges, the PRE-HEATING indicator lights up on and off while an alarm sounds. This is a failure alarm for the cooling fans. Turning both selectors to OFF resets it, but if the fans are not repaired the alarm returns within about 10 seconds in any function that needs cooling air. A wrong knob selection can look similar.

Common causes of PRE-HEATING Light Flashing With Alarm

A cooling fan that is not turning, jammed or blocked
A cooling fan motor or its connection that has failed
Airflow around the oven restricted so the fan cannot do its job

1. Turn both selectors to OFF and let the oven rest for about 15 minutes. 2. Check that nothing is stacked against the vents and the cabinet gap is clear. 3. Restart with a simple bake. If the light and alarm return within seconds, the fans are the problem. 4. Do not keep cooking through the alarm; turn the oven off and call us.

How do I silence the alarm?

Turn both selector knobs to OFF. That clears it, but it comes back inside about 10 seconds if you use a function that needs the cooling fans while the fans are still not working.

Is this the same as the PRE-HEATING light blinking because of the knob settings?

No. A blinking light with an alarm can also come from selecting a temperature outside the allowed range for a function. If the knobs are set correctly and it still sounds, the cooling fans are the cause.

Can I finish my roast first?

We would not. The fans protect the controls and the cabinet from heat, so running a long cook without them risks damage that costs more than the fan repair.
