On Bertazzoni 30-inch combi-steam ovens such as the MAST30CSEX, PROF30CSEX, MASCS30X and PROCS30X, a blinking CAL means descaling was ignored for too long. First the Descale light comes on, then flashes, and finally the oven is blocked and CAL blinks. Cooking will not resume until the descaling procedure has been run. Mineral scale from hard water is the usual reason.
1. Empty the water tank and rinse it. 2. Prepare the descaling solution the oven's instructions call for. 3. Pour it into the tank and start the descaling program from the menu. 4. Let the full cycle finish, then rinse with fresh water. 5. If CAL still blinks afterward, call us.
The oven locks cooking to protect the steam system. Scale left in the generator reduces steam output and can overheat parts. Running the descaling program lifts the block.
Descale as soon as the Descale light turns on, and consider filtered water for the tank. Hard water is the main driver of scale, so the reminder can come sooner than you expect.
Run the rinse again with fresh water and restart the oven. If CAL stays, scale may still be blocking the steam path, and a technician can descale it and check the pump. We cover that work with a 30-day warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
