On Bertazzoni built-in wine coolers REF18WCB and REF24WCB, such as the REF24WCBPNV and REF18WCBPRV, E1 and E2 are linked codes for the upper zone in-cabinet probe. E1 means the probe circuit is open, and E2 means it is shorted. The buzzer sounds "tic" three times, the code flashes every 10 seconds, and the on/off key silences the buzzer. Only one of the two codes appears at a time.
1. Press the on/off key to silence the buzzer. 2. Put a thermometer among the bottles in the upper zone and read it after a few hours. 3. Check that the door closes fully and the gasket is clean. 4. Avoid changing the zone setting while the code is showing. 5. Call us and tell us whether the display shows E1 or E2.
E1 means the probe circuit is open, as though the wire were cut. E2 means it is shorted, as though the two wires touched. Both say the control cannot read the upper zone, so the repair path is similar.
Probably, for a few days. Place a thermometer in the upper zone and watch it. If the reading drifts away from your setting, move valuable bottles to another cool, dark place.
It keeps reminding you after the buzzer has been silenced. The code only clears when the probe is repaired or replaced, which we do after quoting the price and confirming the cause.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
