On Bertazzoni REF18WCB and REF24WCB built-in wine coolers such as the REF24WCBPNV and REF18WCBPLV, E7 and E8 refer to the frosting probe of the middle zone. E7 means the circuit is open, and E8 means it is shorted. The buzzer gives a triple "tic", the code flashes every 10 seconds, and the on/off key silences the sound. Either code points to the same probe, so the repair path is the same.
1. Press the on/off key to quiet the buzzer. 2. Check the middle zone for visible frost on the back wall. 3. Leave space between bottles and the wall. 4. Monitor the zone temperature with a thermometer. 5. Call us and tell us if the code reads E7 or E8.
It is the probe that watches the cold surface of the middle zone for frost. The control needs its reading to manage defrosting for that zone.
E7 is an open circuit. E8 is a short. In both cases the control cannot read the middle zone frost information, so the fix is at the probe or its wiring.
Not an emergency, but without defrost information frost can build up over weeks and the zone may warm. A visit within a week is a sensible plan.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
