The HERT486GGASAVT is an all-gas Heritage Series range, 48 inches wide, with six brass burners and a griddle. It fills a wide opening in the cabinets and relies on a gas shutoff close by, so it is mostly found in kitchens designed around a large cooktop.
Our visit covers every burner for spark and flame, with a look at each cap on its base. We then run the griddle and watch the flame along the plate for thin or broken sections. The oven is read with a thermometer against its setting.

Grease in the ports along the burner disrupts the flame. We remove the plate, clean each port, check that the plate sits flat, and relight the burner to see that the flame is steady.
Usually we clean the base and reseat the cap. If the cap is warped or heavily discolored, we replace it so the flame forms an even ring around the burner.
We place a thermometer in the oven, compare its reading with the setting at a few temperatures, and test the sensor and gas valve if it is off, replacing the part that is out of range.
