On Bertazzoni radiant (Hi-light) ceramic cooktops in the PE..CER range, such as the PE304CER and PE244CER, FE is a touch NTC error, meaning the NTC temperature sensor on the touch control reads as shorted. As a protection, all heaters turn off and are locked. The display shows FE and the cooktop will not heat until the problem is cleared by a repair.
1. Turn every heater control off and let the glass cool. 2. Dry the glass surface and the touch panel. 3. Switch the cooktop off at its breaker for one minute, then on again. 4. Try the controls once. 5. If FE returns and the heaters stay locked, leave the cooktop off and call us.
The cooktop locks the heaters when it cannot trust the touch control's temperature sensor. That is a safety response, so the burners will not come on until the cause is fixed.
FE means the touch NTC sensor reads as shorted, while Ft means it reads as open. Both are touch NTC errors and both lock the heaters, so both need the same kind of repair.
It may clear the display for a moment, but a shorted sensor will bring FE back. If it returns, stop using the cooktop and call us for a test.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
