On Bertazzoni REF30/36BMBI built-in bottom-mount refrigerators, such as the REF36BMBIPRT, the TFT display shows "Lower unit too cold" when the freezer at the bottom is colder than the temperature that was chosen. The screen advises waiting 12 hours to see whether the message clears on its own. Food is not at risk of thawing, but items against the back wall can pick up frost while the message stays on the touchscreen.
1. Open the freezer settings on the touchscreen and compare the set temperature with the recommended value. 2. Raise the setpoint by one step rather than several steps at once. 3. Move frozen packages away from the back wall and the air openings. 4. Close the drawer fully and confirm nothing keeps the gasket from sealing. 5. Wait the full 12 hours before judging the result.
The screen itself says to wait 12 hours. If "Lower unit too cold" is still showing after that and the setpoint is normal, book a visit and we will check the sensor and the cooling cycle.
Food stays frozen, since the drawer is colder rather than warmer. Ice cream may turn very hard, and some items near the back can get freezer burn if the condition lasts for weeks.
Not by itself. A too-cold freezer on this model is most often a setting or loading issue. If the cold persists after you raise the setpoint, we test the sensor reading before blaming any cooling part.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
