The KIN36XV is a 36-inch built-in insert hood with a single motor and a maximum extraction power of 560 CFM. Its 1.5 to 6 Sone sound rating is on the quiet side, so it is a common choice where the kitchen is open to the living room.
A 36-inch opening with a single 560 CFM motor leaves little margin if the filters clog, so we treat airflow complaints seriously. First we remove and clean the filters and look into the housing for grease. Then we inspect the wheel, spin the motor, and check the lamps and controls. At low speed it is quiet by design, with a rating of 1.5 Sones. At high speed it is louder, up to 6 Sones. If low speed has become noisy, the wheel or filters likely need cleaning.
