What E6 means

On Bertazzoni DW24PR and DW18PR legacy dishwashers, E6 means the thermal sensor is cut, an open circuit. The checks are the inlet water temperature, the thermistor and the control board. This code is described as one that appeared in factory mode, so it is uncommon in a home. When it shows, the dishwasher cannot read water temperature and stops. Dishes may be left half washed.

Common causes of E6

  • Thermistor open and not sending a reading
  • Connector between thermistor and board loose
  • Inlet water temperature outside the expected range
  • Control board unable to read the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the dishwasher drain. 2. Check that the hot water supply is not unusually cold. 3. Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker for one minute and back on. 4. Try one short cycle. 5. If E6 appears again, stop using it and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • An open sensor and a loose plug show the same code.
  • The sensor sits in the tub area near the heater and wiring.
  • Resetting the breaker repeatedly does not repair a broken sensor.
  • We quote in writing first and cover the repair with a 30-day warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E6E6 questions
Why is E6 rare?

This code is described as one that appeared in factory mode on the DW24PR and DW18PR. Seeing it at home means the sensor circuit really has no reading.

How is E6 different from E7?

E6 is an open thermal sensor, while E7 is a short in the sensor. Both mean no usable temperature reading, and both are checked the same way: inlet temperature, thermistor, then board.

Can I keep using the dishwasher with E6?

We would not. Without a temperature reading it cannot heat correctly or protect itself, so dishes may come out dirty. Call us so we can test the sensor and give a written price first.
