On Bertazzoni DW24PR and DW18PR legacy dishwashers, E7 means the thermal sensor is shorted. The dishwasher reads a temperature signal that cannot be right, so it stops the cycle. The checks listed are the inlet water temperature, the thermistor and the control board. You will see E7 on the display and the cycle will not continue. Dishes inside stay dirty and wet, and the dishwasher will not heat.
1. Press Cancel and let the dishwasher drain. 2. Open the door and check that the hot water to the sink is working normally. 3. Turn the dishwasher off at its breaker for a minute, then back on. 4. Run one short cycle. 5. If E7 shows again, stop and call us.
The sensor is giving the control a reading that is out of range, like zero resistance. The dishwasher cannot trust it and stops with E7 instead of heating blindly.
They are close relatives. E6 is an open sensor and E7 is a short. Both belong to the DW24PR and DW18PR and both point to the thermistor and board.
Very cold inlet water is on the checklist, but it would not by itself short the sensor. If E7 persists after a normal run, the sensor or board needs testing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
