On Bertazzoni professional induction cooktops such as the PE244INDXV, PE304INDXV and PE365INDXV, E5 means the cooktop is overheating. You are told to wait until it has cooled down and then switch it on again. Heating stops while E5 shows. Owners usually meet it after long, high-power cooking or when airflow around the unit is poor. Owners also notice that the cooktop restarts normally once it is cool.
1. Switch every zone off and let the cooktop cool. 2. Check that vents and the cabinet space below are clear. 3. Switch it on again and cook at lower power. 4. If E5 returns quickly, stop and call us.
Wait until the cooktop has cooled down. That can take a while after heavy cooking, so give it time before you switch it on again.
They are related but different. E5 is the cooktop overheating overall, while E6 is the IGBT, the power switching part, overheating. Both call for cooling down first.
That suggests a sensor or fan problem rather than real heat. If E5 shows after the cooktop has rested, we would test the cooling path and the sensors.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
