What E6 means

On Bertazzoni professional induction cooktops such as the PE244INDXV, PE304INDXV and PE365INDXV, E6 means the IGBT is overheating. The IGBT is the power switching part that drives the coil, and it gets hot at high power. The official step is to wait until the cooktop has cooled down and switch it on again. Heating stops while E6 shows. The cooktop is protecting a part that works hard at high power levels.

Common causes of E6

  • Prolonged high-power cooking heating the IGBT
  • Restricted airflow around the cooktop
  • Cooling that is not keeping up with the IGBT
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn all zones off and wait for the cooktop to cool. 2. Keep the area under and around the cooktop clear for airflow. 3. Restart and use a lower power setting. 4. If E6 returns soon after cooling, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Running the power stage hot can shorten its life, so repeated restarts are a bad idea.
  • Investigating cooling and the board means working near live voltage.
  • We write the price down before work starts and back it with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E6E6 questions
Why does the IGBT get hot?

It switches large currents to drive the induction coil, which creates heat. A cooling fan normally carries that heat away, and E6 means it has climbed too high.

What setting should I use afterward?

Try a lower power level, especially for long boils. Spreading cooking across zones also keeps any one power stage from working so hard. That also reduces strain on the cooktop.

When is E6 a repair issue?

If it repeats after proper cooling with the vents clear, the cooling or the sensor may not be doing its job. We then test the fan and the readings.
