Bertazzoni Cooktop Code ER21: User Interface Temperature Above 85°C

What ER21 means

On current Bertazzoni induction cooktops with TFT and hidden-slider interfaces, such as the PE304TX, PE365TB and PE304HB, ER21 means the hob switches off because the temperature sensor on the user interface read above 85°C. Let the hob cool; the code clears below 75°C. The thermal insulation of the user interface should also be checked. ER codes refer to the entire hob, while E codes refer to a zone.

Common causes of ER21

Heat building up at the user interface above 85°C

Blocked airflow around the cooktop

1. Switch the cooktop off and let it cool until the code clears. 2. Check that vents and cabinet space beneath are not blocked. 3. Restart and use lower power on long cooking sessions. 4. If ER21 returns on a cool cooktop, call us.

Why does the whole hob stop for ER21?

ER codes refer to the entire hob, not a single zone. The user interface got too hot, so the cooktop switched itself off to protect the controls.

When can I use it again?

The code clears once the interface temperature drops below 75°C. Give the cooktop time to cool after heavy cooking before restarting. Waiting also prevents an immediate repeat of ER21.

What is the insulation check?

The user interface needs proper thermal insulation from heat beneath. If it is poor or was disturbed during installation, ER21 may repeat, and we would inspect the installation.
