On the Bertazzoni REF24BMBPNB-type bottom-mount refrigerator with its display-and-alarm panel, code EC appears on the temperature display when the main board and the display panel stop communicating. The appliance still cools, but a technician should check it. You will see EC on the display, possibly with an alarm tone, and temperature adjustments may stop working. Until the link is restored, the panel may ignore your key presses.
1. Check that the refrigerator and freezer are still cold. 2. Press the alarm key if the buzzer is sounding. 3. Turn the breaker off for about a minute and switch it back on. 4. Give the controls a few minutes and watch whether EC returns. 5. If it does, keep the doors shut and book a visit.
Not right away. The cooling continues, and the code only says that the panel and the board are not communicating. Check temperatures by feel and thermometer for the first day.
A sensor code names a temperature probe. EC concerns the data link between the display panel and the main board, so the cause is in the electronics or the cable, not in a probe.
Only if the cause was a one-time glitch. If EC returns after the reset, a connection or a board is failing, and we would test it and quote the work before starting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
