What F3 means

On Bertazzoni 24-inch bottom-mount refrigerators such as the REF24BMBPNB, REF24BMBIPNV and REF24BMFIXNV, F3 on the display names the fridge compartment sensor. This is the probe that reads the air temperature in the fresh-food section. The appliance still cools, but a technician should check it. Without a good reading the control may run the cooling too long or too little. Both the refrigerator and the freezer keep their own separate sensors.

Common causes of F3

  • A fridge compartment sensor that reads open or shorted
  • A damaged sensor lead or a loose plug at the sensor
  • Condensation or ice around the probe
  • A control board input that misreads the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Put a thermometer in a glass of water on the middle shelf and read it after several hours. 2. Make sure food is not touching the back wall. 3. Close the door fully and clean the gasket. 4. Restart at the breaker after one minute. 5. If F3 comes back, note the thermometer reading and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The probe lives inside the cabinet lining, and removing the liner pieces can damage the airflow channel.
  • A bad reading, a broken wire and a failing board input look identical on the display.
  • A fridge that runs without a correct reading can freeze lettuce or let milk get warm.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3F3 questions
How can I tell if the fridge is really too warm or too cold?

Place a thermometer in a glass of water on the middle shelf, wait several hours and read it. Between 35F and 40F is normal. A different number suggests the sensor reading is steering the cooling wrongly.

Does F3 mean the freezer is also affected?

Not directly. F3 covers the fridge compartment sensor only. The freezer has its own sensor, which shows as F4. Both can run separately, so one working does not hide the other.

Can I keep using the refrigerator?

Yes, for a short time. It continues to cool. Check the thermometer daily and book a visit soon, so we can test the sensor and quote the work before we begin.
