Bertazzoni MAS304DFMXE Dual-Fuel Range Repair

Bertazzoni range

Most common issues on this model

  1. Burner that sparks but does not light after many years of use
  2. Temperature sensor drifting and spoiling bake results
  3. Convection fan motor noise or failure
  4. Worn door hinges and gasket letting heat escape

The MAS304DFMXE is an older four-burner dual-fuel Master Series range, found in kitchens with both a gas line and a 240-volt outlet. Many of these have been cooking for years, so the repairs we see are about age rather than defects: parts that have simply done a lot of heating cycles.

We start on the gas side by lighting each burner and watching the spark, since a clicking igniter with no flame points to a dirty port, a worn spark electrode or a weak module. In the electric oven we test bake accuracy against a separate thermometer and listen to the convection fan.

Door hinges and gaskets on a range this age often let heat escape, which makes the oven run long and the sensor look wrong. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility from outside, then phone us afterward.

Key features

  • Older Master Series range for 30-inch openings, gas on top and electric in the oven
  • Four gas burners above an electric convection oven
  • Cast-iron grates running across the top
  • Temperature gauge that is analog or early digital, depending on production
  • Telescopic glides on some rack levels

MAS304DFMXEMAS304DFMXE questions
Why does my burner click but never light?

The spark is firing, but the flame needs a clean port, a good electrode gap and gas flow. Spilled food often blocks the port. We clean it and test the electrode and spark module, replacing only what fails.

My oven bakes cooler than the dial says. Is it the sensor?

The sensor is the most common reason on older ovens, but a worn door gasket can cause the same result. We check the sensor resistance and compare the cavity temperature with a thermometer before deciding.

The oven fan is loud. Can it be repaired?

A noisy convection fan usually has a worn bearing or a bent blade. We remove the fan cover, check the blade and motor, and replace the motor if it is rough, so the oven does not lose its even-baking ability.
