On legacy Bertazzoni induction cooktops such as the P304IX and P365IX, dashes on the display mean a "long press". Something has leaned on the keypad for more than ten seconds, or liquid or a damp cloth is sitting on it. The controls are disabled and power to that section is off. Once the cause is removed and you turn the element back on, the cooktop is operational again.
1. Switch the cooktop off if you can and lift away anything touching the keypad. 2. Wipe the keypad dry with a soft cloth. 3. Turn the element back on once the area is clear and dry. 4. If dashes appear again with nothing on the keypad, call us.
The cooktop treats a key held for more than ten seconds as a mistake and shuts that section off. It is a safety response to something resting on the keypad.
Remove the liquid, cloth or object, dry the keypad, and then turn the element back on. Nothing needs resetting at the breaker. The element then works normally.
If the keypad is clear and dry and the dashes keep coming, a key may be registering a press by itself. That needs a technician, and we would test it before quoting.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
