Bertazzoni Cooktop Code ER03: Water or Pans on the Control Area

What ER03 means

On current Bertazzoni induction cooktops with a TFT or hidden-slider interface, such as the PE304TX or PE365TB, ER03 means water or cookware is sitting on the user interface. The cooktop switches off after 10 seconds. The legacy P365IAE shows the same message as Er03 for an object or liquid covering the control keys. A missing pan on a zone is shown separately by the pan symbol, not by ER03.

Common causes of ER03

Water or a spill on the glass over the controls
A pan, lid or utensil resting on the user interface
A damp cloth or towel left on the control keys

1. Switch the cooktop off and remove anything from the control area. 2. Wipe the glass with a dry, soft cloth, including the edges around the keys. 3. Wait a few seconds, then switch the cooktop back on. 4. If ER03 comes back on a clean, dry surface, stop and call us.

ER03 almost always clears once the controls are dry and clear, so a clean glass is the first thing to try.

Why did the cooktop turn off by itself after ER03 appeared?

It switches off after 10 seconds when water or pans cover the user interface. That is a protection against the controls registering false touches while they are covered.

Does ER03 mean no pan is on the zone?

No. On the US models, a missing or unsuitable pan is shown with the pan symbol. ER03 is only about water or objects on the control area.

Can I wipe the glass while the cooktop is on?

Switch it off first. Wiping across live touch keys can register as presses, and a wet cloth left on them can bring ER03 straight back.
