On Bertazzoni built-in bottom-mount refrigerators with a TFT display, such as the REF30BMBIPRT and REF36BMBIXRT, "Lower unit open" means the freezer door has been open for a few minutes. The message appears when the lower door is not closed. The owner sees the text on the display and may hear an alarm until the freezer is shut, while warm air flows into the frozen food.
1. Push the freezer door or drawer firmly closed until it seats. 2. Check that baskets sit flat and no package blocks the front of the drawer. 3. Wipe the seal clean with warm water and dry it so it closes tightly. 4. Wait a few minutes to see whether the message clears. 5. If the message stays with everything closed, call us.
The freezer door or drawer at the bottom has been left open for a few minutes. Close it firmly until it seats against the seal, and the message should clear on its own shortly after.
Check for a package or basket holding it out and clean the seal. If that does not help, the door switch or alignment may need adjusting by a technician.
A few minutes is fine. Leaving it open for an hour or more can start thawing, so close it as soon as you see the message and check the ice cream.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
