Bertazzoni FMAS30FSSKX self-clean Oven Service

Where the FMAS30FSMKX skips the cleaning cycle, the FMAS30FSSKX adds it, together with a motorized door latch. It is a 30-inch Master Series wall oven, normally installed in a tall cabinet or as the upper unit of a stack. A cleaning run heats the cavity far above anything used for cooking, so a latch that was already tired often shows itself the first time the cycle is started after a long gap.
When the door will not release, we first confirm the cavity has cooled, then watch the latch motor and its switch through a full lock and unlock. After that we test the sensor, the convection fan and both heating elements. Everything is priced in writing before work begins, and repairs are covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
The latch is meant to hold until the cavity cools, which can take over an hour. If it is still locked long after that, the latch motor or its position switch needs testing, and we can do that without removing the oven.
If the door is stuck shut, no. If it simply will not lock, baking may still work, but the cleaning cycle should not be run. We test the latch circuit first, then decide whether the latch assembly needs replacing.
Only when the cavity needs it. Each run puts the latch and the door seals through high heat, so heavy spills are better wiped up once the oven is cool. Removing the telescopic racks before cleaning is also the safer choice.
