Bertazzoni Q36M500X Cooktop Repair Guide

The Q36M500X is a Master Series cooktop, 36 inches wide with five gas burners and a low profile top that drops into the counter. You tend to find it in kitchens where a hood runs overhead and the oven is built in somewhere else, so the top works as the main cooking surface.
With a top this wide, uneven wear is common: the burner nearest the sink gets splashed, while the one in the corner may rarely be touched. When a burner misbehaves, we pull the cap and head, check the igniter for cracks, and look for dried spills in the ports. Then we test the spark module and knob switch to see which part is responsible.
If you notice a gas smell, step outside and call the gas utility. Afterward, call us. We give you a written price first, and workmanship is covered for 30 days.
A dirty or slightly damp igniter is the most common reason, followed by a burner cap sitting off the base. We clean the igniter, set the cap flat and test the spark. If it still takes several tries, the spark module or switch is next.
Not really. The burners, caps and igniters come out from above, so most work happens on top of the counter. Some parts, like valves and the spark module, sit underneath, and we reach them from the cabinet below.
Turn the knob off, wait a few minutes for any gas to clear, and open a window before relighting. Repeated blowouts on low usually mean a dirty port or a cap that is not seated. If it keeps happening, book a visit.
Book in about a minute, or call the desk. Same-day windows inside the Loop on most days, next-day across the rest of Houston.
