On Bertazzoni legacy induction cooktops such as the P304IAE and P365IAE, the letter U on the display means no pan detection: there is no pan on the zone, or the pan is inadequate for induction. The zone will not heat until the cooktop senses suitable cookware, and you will see U where the power level would normally appear. Pans that are too small or not magnetic are the usual cause.
1. Turn the zone off. 2. Place a flat-bottomed magnetic pan in the middle of the zone. 3. Test the pan with a magnet. If it does not stick, choose another pan. 4. Turn the zone on again. 5. If U shows with a known good pan, call us.
It means the cooktop does not detect a suitable pan on the zone. Either no pan is there, or the one you placed is not right for induction.
No. The pan must be magnetic and reasonably flat, and large enough to cover the zone mark. Aluminum, copper and glass pans without a magnetic base will give U.
If a magnetic, flat pan centered on the zone still shows U on every zone, call us. The sensing under the glass would need to be tested.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
